Call Me Sister Celebrates National Hug Week
Did you know you need 4 hugs a day for survival? Double that for maintenance and a whopping 12 hugs a day are needed for personal growth?
It is all about an amazing hormone produced in our brains, oxytocin. It is nature’s antidepressant and anti-anxiety fix, and we don’t need a prescription-we just need to hug somebody! We need to hug them for 20 seconds-any type of hug will work, but the greatest benefits are in the heart -o-heart hug.
By hugging, you will increase you levels of oxytocin-which in turn, will reduce stress, lower your blood pressure, improve your circulation and lower your heart rate. Those benefits will last about an hour-so do the math. To keep your oxytocin high and your stress low, you need 8 hugs to get through the work day. Work in 4 more and by the end of the day, you are on your way to happier, healthier you.
