Vertical: I love little corners or spaces on a wall.
It gives me a chance to do two things: groups things and make the eye go up and down, not left to right as it does by default. These are wooden plates from my husband’s family and I love their size, texture and shape. My sister in law gave them to me, because she just didn’t care for them. Once when an appraiser was in my home to look at some other items, I casually asked him to take a look at the wooden places. I learned that they are of some value and, in fairness, offered them back to my sister in law. She thought about it and said, “No, I still don’t like them.” Just looking at the plates makes me smile. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Word!
