Freedom of Worship – February 27, 1943. ~Norman Rockwell

My understanding of freedom to worship God grew when I met Elizabeth, an immigrant from Romania. She had experienced oppression. One day we were talking about where to meet for a small group youth Bible study. While I was asserting my personal feeling that we should be in a home, in her own very sweet and humble way, she was wanting to meet at the church. When I said, “Wouldn’t it be more comfortable to meet in a home?” I shall never forget her reply. Even now, I am pricked in my spirit and could cry. She said, “Meeting at the church is what we fight for.” I could see it in her – she had not always had the freedom to worship God – to express her faith in a public place without fear.

The Bible Study met at the church and I was changed.

ISissies, worship God this week – in freedom and in public with others. This is one of your greatest freedoms to enjoy and to not take for granted.
