I love to cook. So telling people about what’s “in my pantry” is definitely something I would like to share. I’m not a fancy cook, but literally LOVE to just walk in to the kitchen and pick out some ingredients and figure out just what I can create from what I have on hand. That being said, I do try to have some staple ingredients always around. For entree’s that means onions, seasonings, peppers and grains have to be available.
BETTER THAN BOUILLON is something that iSissy3 told me about. I had always used the cubes. Now I know better!
Other things I always keep on hand. Diced tomatoes, tomato sauce & tomato paste. Frozen green beans, peas and carrots. (Frozen is my first choice, but I also have a can of each tucked away.)
Then when I go to the grocery store, I always think that if you are going to use a menu, it is crucial to check out the specials to see what is on sale. Your food bill is always one place you can truly save some money. Wise shopping and a little planning to have a well-appointed pantry… you can provide your family and yourself with tasty meals with minimal effort.
Yes, I truly find it easier to fix something at home rather than going out to eat! The average American eats out more than four meals a week. Don’t be average. Learn the joy of fixing your meals. And having kids help prepare the meal can be an important opportunity to share family time.
