Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.
Wherever you are this morning, I hope it is warmer than here! The German Proverb cited is so true of Minnesota-at the first sign of spring we pour into the streets in our neighborhoods, waving at neighbors we have only seen as quilted down figures going quickly from car to homes. During these bitter cold winters, you will bump into one of your neighbors at the grocery store and it is like a family reunion-how are the kids, how was your Christmas, etc.
Never am I more a home body than during a Minnesota winter: crock pot meals, warming the house with the promise of a hearty meal later-reading by the fire, almost always with my furry friend nestled in-and, sweats-there is no judging about going anywhere in sweats-it is a survival technique.
I am, indeed, grateful for sweatshirt hoodies, a warm house, good food and so wish we could enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and a chat by the fireplace-I’ll save you a place on the couch…..
