Saturday: something I ate this week

“Poetry is the synthesis of hyacinths and biscuits.” – Carl Sandburg

This week I tried a recipe from Bisquick in an effort to repeat the yummy cheese biscuits served at Red Lobster.  I think next time I will add some more garlic powder.  My guests and I did, however, wax poetic about the buttery, cheesy awesomeness of the lowly biscuit.

Cheese-Garlic Biscuits
2 cups Original Bisquick® mix
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (2 ounces)
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Heat oven to 450ºF.
Stir Bisquick mix, milk and cheese until soft dough forms. Drop dough by 9 spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Stir together butter and garlic powder; brush over warm biscuits.
Makes 9 biscuits

As a Southern Girl, I love me some biscuits.  What is your favorite biscuit recipe?  As with all recipes I mention where I have made a shortcut and used a boxed mix, please don’t tell my Mama.
