life events - to everything there is a season
Nature tends to have a semblance of order in the seasons.    Seeds are planted in tilled soil, plants grow and become lush, produce is gathered; then the plant and surroundings die back and the soil lies dormant.  The plants that died begin to decay and add nourishment to the soil which will make the spring planting even richer than the previous springs.

Unlike the rhythm of nature, our lives are not an orderly progression of seasons.  iSissy2, iSissy3 and I all are in the throes of change and embracing the wisdom of Solomon when he said, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”  Weddings, recitals, remodels, babies, moving, adapting to the ever-changing role of daughters, mothers, wife, receptions, to work or to retire, supporting a friend in hospice, weighing (pardon the pun) the impact of age on our own happiness and well-being….

In the next few weeks we will be sharing via FB photos, the seasons of our lives and, hopefully, you will do the same. Insurance companies, FB and actuaries call them “life events.”  We know better. Our lives are not made up of events.  We know that our lives are a series of opportunities to experience all that God would have us learn – plant, harvest, laugh, cry. Here, Solomon said it best in Ecclesiastes 3:

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die;

a time to plant,and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

 A time to kill, and a time to heal;

a time to break down, and a time to build up;

 A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

 A time to cast away stones,

and a time to gather stones together;

 a time to embrace,

and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose;

a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew;

 a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

 A time to love, and a time to hate;

 a time of war,

and a time of peace.

iSissies, look for our photo posts over this next week and we hope you will share what’s happening in this season of your life also.
