Lest I forget.

After my dad died, I came home and in a whirl of grief and desire for order,
I created this collage of old black/white photos on my wall.
Yes, they were in boxes-unappreciated, undervalued and most certainly not clearly understood.
To have them here, on the wall, reminds me everyday of my heritage
and the people who wore thread bare clothes, pushed a plow with a mule, served our country
and made a home out of logs from the stand of trees out back.
I don’t want to ever forget where I came from…..
