Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence. – Erma Bombeck
For some, Thanksgiving is all about the football-others the food, for most it is about the joy of gathering. For me? It’s all about setting the table!
I know the meal is over in the blink of an eye, yet I find myself happily preparing long past the 18 hour mark. Probably because I do things Like this-set a practice table!!
Yes, I like to kind of do a practice run if I’m trying something new-and this year I decided to try burlap to decorate my Thanksgiving table. Since burlap is represented in every store in multiple ways, I knew I wouldn’t need to search long and hard for ideas. First, I found the table runner. Check. The rest just kind of happened-Dollar Store, Michaels and Hobby Lobby all made my new burlap Thanksgiving table come together with ease.
Here are some photos of the dress rehearsal-can’t wait to see it with the gold trimmed plates and goblets.

I love the brown/golden warmth of this burlap Thanksgiving table.

burlap chargers, burlap hearts tied with raffia for napkin rings, a burlap runner and few rustic burlap leaves in the centerpiece-love the texture and color
Do you set a “practice table?” Have you got an idea this year on how you might do it differently-or does tradional reign supreme?
