A recent visit to the North Shore of Lake Superior provided a beautiful array of fall colors:  red, burgundy, gold and rust.  I pressed this beautiful rusty leaf for my memory book-I picked it up on a walk near Gooseberry Falls where the fallen leaves danced across the rocks in a frenzy driven by the wind-an occasional burst of wind brought more leaves down to join the fun.  I love October and the party Mother Nature plans for us each year.

Rust-colored Autumn Leaf

October’s Party
by George Cooper

“October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.”
