I tend to have reading episodes-reading a 300 page book in a couple of days, and then not pick up a book for a few weeks. I wish I had the discipline of reading a bit everyday, but I tend to read only books I want to devour. : ) So, when thinking about “4 of something” I spotted my stack of books to be read. Perfect-here are the 4 books on my nightstand:
“Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly.”
― Francis Bacon
Sue Monk Kidd is the author of “The Secret Live of Bees, ” which I loved, so I am looking forward to reading her latest-The Invention of Wings. I started At Home by Bryson and discovered it is the kind of book you can pick up and read a chapter or two-it is non-fiction so there is no story line to keep you hanging! The other two books are just kind of fun “mind fillers.” I really enjoy reading books that stir my mind to see things another way-which is why Thinking Fast and Slow is in the stack. History’s Worst Decisions is there just in case I am ever on Jeopardy, and obscure historical facts is a category.
What is on your nightstand? Do you have a wish list at Barnes and Nobles? I am to the point in my life that I put a book back if it is over 300 pages-have toyed with the idea of the new book on Washington, but it is 700 pages long!! Do you like those big, thick books or do you prefer a novella? : )
